Gossip and Slander

What is it about females that craves to know all the biddy little details about everyone's life? How is it that they twist one person's words into something entirely slanderous and mean? Why do they start rumors and gossip, for no reason at all?

I'm asking these questions because of something that recently happened at work; a case which put me under scrutiny by my coworkers and caused my boss to question me. After much discussion, my boss sent out a memo saying that if there was any more gossip like that, the person starting it was going to be fired. And sure enough, yesterday, one of the gals in our office was let go.

It's a serious thing, gossip and slander. The Lord warns us strongly against it.

"Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies" 1 Tim. 5;13

"And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil ...malice ..deceit ... They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God... haughty... Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them."
Rom. 1:28

Praise the Lord! "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." I thought I could have lost my job, when I hadn't done anything wrong. And now, it has been a blessing for me, as a dietician.

"...when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil."
1 Pet 1:16
