Relax...

There is nothing I enjoy more after a stressful day than a relaxing soak in the tub. I just take about a cup of epsom salts and a few drops of my favorite essential oils (for relaxing, I enjoy some lavender and sweet orange) and put them into some running bathwater. Epsom salt contains a large quantity of magnesium (in the form of magnesium sulfate), which is a component in over 300 enzymes in body. Soaking allows this mineral to be absorbed into the skin and utilized in cells and tissues. Lots of people treat sore muscles with an epsom soak in the tub.

For an inexpensive gift idea, mix the salts with the oils and put it in a decorative container, and tie a ribbon of some sort around it. Make a small card that says the ingredients, and voilĂ ! A sweet, thoughtful gift! If you want to make it especially moisturizing, add some almond oil (about a table spoon) to the essential oil before you mix it with the salts. It acts as a carrier oil and makes your skin soft and supple.

Update: I'm still experimenting with adding things other than soap to please those partial to the 'bubble' part of their bath. I'm looking into some coconut derivatives...any ideas? Shoot them my way!
