sickness

I can't stand it when people get sick. Not because I am afraid of their germs, but more because I hate to see them suffer. But on the occasion that someone I know does come down with something, I love taking care of them. I love being needed like that. I know that I enjoy taking care of other people more than they may like being taken care of. The scripture that says it is more rewarding to give than to receive rings true. I wish there were some way to be a nurse, but not in the mainstream medicine way...because I don't agree with so much of what goes on in those circles.

God has given us bodies that are made to function well, and to run on specific things and not on others...for example - when God instructed the bread to be made without yeast or 'leavening' it was good. We now know that Candida albicans overgrowth (i.e. yeast infections or thrush in the mouth) can spring up in certain situations and is worsened by the yeast breads and those used to ferment wine/beer. There were so many laws about how to clean the Hebrews tents and pots because of the mold and bacteria that could grow and make the people sick, long before Robert Koch developed aseptic techniques (relatively speaking just a few short years ago).

God said that the fat portion is for the Lord, and everyone knows saturated animal fats are not the best to be eating for optimum cardiovascular health. So the rules that God had, he had for a reason. Pork is suspected to be the cause of Crutchfield Jacob's disease (equivalent of mad cow, only in humans) where a protein joins with a like protein and becomes a prion that destroys the body's central nervous system. Cannibalism is causes CJ disease as well. So long before science was able to prove these things, God instructed his people, and took care of them. The Jews were God's people, and he took good care of them.

Am I saying no one should eat yeast breads? Am I saying that eating pork is a sin? NO. Because sin is anything done without faith, and because everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. I, personally choose to refrain from eating pork. I should think that better is the man who does this out of faith in an almighty, loving God rather than belief in science.
