God Bless the USA

I am so lucky to have grown up in America. We have safe drinking water (relatively speaking of course). That alone could be enough to be happy, if I was coming from say, Africa. But me? I gripe when I run out of hot water in the shower. We have controls on meat facilities, and restraunts are graded based on proper food preparation to ensure no contamination (granted it's not perfect). We have amazing emergency healthcare. One of the best in the world. We don't die from the things the rest of the world does. Thanks to the MMR vaccinations, when was the last time you knew someone with measles? And yet it's the 4th leading cause of death in the world. (according to stats in 1999, but they haven't changed much) Rarely does anyone here die from diahrrea related problems...and yet that makes the top 10 cause of death in the world as well.

We have so many freedoms too. Goodness but we have so many. I can say, write, or do just about whatever I want as long as I don't break the law. I can talk about God without getting killed, where in China Christians are persecuted beyond belief. America can accomodate my choices to live healthy, or my choices to be successful and work hard. There is so much hope here. Sure, so now the president can read my mail in a crisis situation. Whoop de do. I want him to read my mail if a crisis arises. But some may say, well what if you could no longer recieve letters with the word 'God' in it. Well, then I'd be talking about a place like North Korea, not America, and nothing I've previously said would apply anymore. We are so lucky here.

It hasn't been easy. It came with a price. Our forefathers died for independence. We've had civil wars, racial wars, gender wars, court wars, international wars, terror wars... and the list goes on. So many good things and so many bad things have happened to and in America. And we are an extremely young country. God has had so much mercy on a country that absolutely does not deserve it. And what are we doing? Doing our best to get God out of the equation as much as possible. When America was founded, God was given all or most of the credit. I guess people want to stop giving Him credit. How long before he enacts his Old testament works of destruction, exile and death?

I'm a science major, and hate politics and futile arguments. My history knowledge is nothing but average. I don't pretend to know it all. I will say America is by no means a perfect country, and by no means do I agree with everything (ex. foreign policy). But right now, I don't want to live anywhere else. And shame on anyone who talks as if they know how to run a country better...by picking apart every move the government makes and targeting it as a scapegoat for things that are wrong in the world. It's not the government's fault. This world is given over to be rampaged by the devil for a time. So instead of villifying say, George W. Bush, prepare for battle against the devil's influence and lies, fight for the truth in the heavenly realms,...that is the only way people (and therefore the world) will change. If we all walked as Jesus did, who would complain?

So what are we waiting for? Why waste time with anything but spreading the love of God in Christ which becomes the only means to ALL perfect government ends.

Attention, all! See the marvels of God! He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, Bans war from pole to pole, breaks all the weapons across his knee. "Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything."
Psalm 46:8-10 The Message
